Hello! I’m Jasmine, a creative tutor who bases sessions around empathy and building confidence. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree, and I'm currently in grad school to receive my MSW license.

I offer support in a variety of areas:
- Theatre and acting
- Intermediary piano and beginner music theory skills
- Singing and songwriting
- Writing, spelling, grammar, phonics, and vocabulary
- Reading comprehension and basic English skills
- Basic math (elementary level)

I’ve been performing and studying theatre for over 10 years, and I not only have experience in acting, but also in devising, directing, music directing, vocal coaching, light designing, sound designing, set designing, costume designing, and prop designing. Additionally, I’ve played piano for 18 years, and I’m a children’s book author and singer/songwriter. While I’m not a formal teacher, I’ve volunteered as a teacher’s assistant and through organizations like Volunteers in Public Schools. I’ve also worked as a child behavior interventionist, which shaped how I approach tutoring with empathy and structure. Furthermore, I’ve created several educational booklets that cover spelling, alphabet and number recognition, shape tracing and comprehension, and sight word learning. These materials are designed to help children on the spectrum learn in ways that are fun, accessible, and tailored to their individual needs.

My dream is to become a drama therapist, helping people heal and grow through music, movement, and creative storytelling. Until then, I’m here to help your child feel confident, capable, and excited to learn!

English

English

I’ve always had a strong foundation in English, scoring a 36 in the subject on the ACT in high school, and a 32 overall on the exam. Since then, I’ve earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work and continued to grow as a writer through academic, professional, and creative work. I’ve written two published children’s books and practice writing regularly, both creatively and academically. My experience includes grant writing for nonprofit organizations, documentation and behavior notes in ABA, research papers, reflective journals for social work, and persuasive essays. I also enjoy writing poetry, prose, and personal narratives. Whether your child needs help with reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, or building confidence in their writing, I’m here to help make learning both meaningful and fun.
Piano

Piano

I have been playing piano for over 18 years. I started playing music by ear and then moved into formal piano lessons. Around the same time, I began writing and composing music and songs, strengthening my skill. I've performed in many arts shows and have more recently moved into teaching and directing music in theatrical spheres. I am proficient in basic music theory, music technique (e.g., finger skills, hand placement, posture, etc.), reading sheet music, understanding rhythms and beats, and more!
Songwriting

Songwriting

I have been playing piano for over 18 years. I started playing music by ear and then moved into formal vocal and piano lessons. Around the same time, I began writing and composing music and songs, strengthening my skill. I've performed in many arts shows and have more recently moved into teaching and directing music in theatrical spheres. I have been a part of various choirs since middle school, and have taught choirs both in high school and college. I am passionate about building confidence in individuals who want to learn more and strengthen skills in vocal agility, projection, enunciation and diction, breathing techniques, pitch and key, increasing vocal range songwriting. I welcome beginngers, including those who just want to sing for fun!
Special Needs

Special Needs

I have worked with children for over a decade, specializing in supporting children with neurodevelopmental and intellectual disabilities. I have specifically worked in ABA as a child interventionist and behavior therapist for children with autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disorders, ADHD, and various speech disabilities. Additionally, I am a BSW graduate and am highly informed in child development, trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and empathy. I am willing to be as patient as your child may need to ensure their success.
Theater

Theater

I began theatre in middle school, participating in both straight plays and musicals. My passion for theatre continued into high school where I was given opportunities to music direct and play piano for performances. In college, I gained more experience in devising, directing, music directing, lighting design, sound design, and costume design. I also learned creative ways to teach various acting skills including the movement of the body and the use of it as a machine in the bigger picture, enunciation and diction techniques, as well as intimacy coordination. I additionally served on the board of my college's Musical Theatre Club as the intermediary for 3 years.

Writing

I have a strong background in academic, creative, and professional writing, and I love helping students build confidence in their voice. As a Social Work graduate and current Master’s student, I’m experienced in writing research papers, grants, reflective essays, and case studies. I’ve also worked with students on personal statements, playwriting, and storytelling. My approach is patient, encouraging, and supportive. Whether your goal is to improve grammar, learn how to structure an essay, or craft powerful creative work, I can help break things down into manageable steps and guide you through the process. My priority is making sure every student feels seen, heard, and capable.

Supportive and full of encouragement

It's my 2nd time in a private vocal lesson. Jasmine takes baby steps and is full of encouragement and support the whole way while doing drills and breathing exercises. I notice that slowly I can hit the notes where previously my voice would crack. I highly recommend Jasmine!

Definitely Recommend

My first lesson with jasmine was incredibly helpful and, in just one session, she demonstrated a great amount of thoughtfulness, empathy, and sharpness in her feedback. Looking forward to more.
