In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my undergraduate education, I had a number of course involving discrete mathematics including probability theory, logic, abstract algebra and abstract geometry. I also had two years of calculus including analysis and differential equations. In addition, I have a minor in statistics from Western Illinois University and a doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis in research statistics from Northern Illinois University.
I earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Western Illinois University with one course in Linear Algebra and another course in Linear Programming. In addition, many of the courses I took had linear algebra as a basis. Those include but are not limited to six courses or two years of calculus. I have taught algebra at the middle school level for 34 years, which of course meant I was teaching a level of linear algebra, i. e., slopes, intercepts, slope - intercept form, point slope form, general form of a linear equation.
