Hi, I'm Erik! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University, graduating cum laude with a 3.6 GPA out of 4.0—an honor that placed me on the Dean's List for academic excellence. My studies span a wide range of computer science topics, from high-level programming in Python, Java, and JavaScript to lower-level systems work in C++ and x86-64 assembly code. I also gained hands-on experience in web development, particularly with Ruby on Rails, giving me a well-rounded foundation to help students at all levels. Not to mention, my specialization for my major is Databases and Data Analytics (SQL, Data Science).
For two years, I worked with high school students online, guiding them through AP Computer Science A, Computer Science Principles, and introductory college-level programming courses. Then, I tutored middle school students in math and science in person for another year. I've found that students thrive when sessions are thoughtfully planned, so I always provide practice materials ahead of time and tailor each lesson to meet their specific goals. I also hope that the student can provide me with his or her class materials ahead of time to be well prepared. One-on-one tutoring gives me the chance to really connect and adjust my approach to fit each student's learning style.
