Hi! I'm Amy, a family nurse practitioner and adjunct faculty at a local university with 10 years of nursing education experience. Hi! I'm Amy, a family nurse practitioner and adjunct faculty at a local university with 10 years of nursing education experience. In addition to my 12 years as a FNP, I've spent 12 years as an ICU nurse at Level 1 trauma centers in the Chicagoland area. I have taught nursing pharmacology at both undergraduate and graduate level for several years. I have also taught pathophysiology, medical-surgical nursing, and medical-surgical clinicals. I can help in these areas, though pharmacology is truly my passion. I am current with HESI pharmacology exam concepts. My class average HESI was 916 (national average 844).
One of my favorite things as a nurse educator is to help undergraduate students put together pathophysiology, assessment, pharmacology, and medical surgical nursing to understand the "big picture" of patient disease and treatment for acute and chronic conditions. I love to utilize real world examples and case studies to assist students in learning concepts.
With respect to tutoring pharmacology, I can adjust my teaching style to suit your needs. I can dive deep into pathophysiology and pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics with drug classes for comprehensive understanding, and I can also help with basic memory tricks and tips in building flashcards or databases of commonly utilized medications. Time is previous in nursing school, and I am happy to focus on specific concepts that are unclear. I have access to several pharmacology texts and like to use multiple resources in teaching. I can also utilize your references and assist in developing study guides and assignment review.
Although I have not tutored on this site previously, I do group tutoring weekly for my classes with great feedback. Feel free to review my "rate my professors" profile. I look forward to helping you be successful in as a future nurse!
