I’m Megan! I graduated cum laude with a BA in Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology and then went on to get my MS in Physician Assistant Studies. In both degrees, the classes that I took the most away from were not those that I was most interested in material wise but those where I had a professor that made a lasting impact on my life. This was done through mentorship, constructive criticism and lasting kindness and patience. Because this was such an integral part of my learning experience, I try to carry these skills over in to my tutoring approach hoping every student that I work with leaves the appointment feeling supported and understood!
I have experience tutoring in a few settings. First, I was a psychology and neuroscience tutor for my college while I was a junior and senior in my undergrad. This was an amazing experience as I got to work with students at all points of these degrees, and help them formulate study techniques, understand content and improve scores on exams. I then was able to transition into a TA/preceptor role for advanced neuroscience classes where I was a solo tutor to these student cohorts. While in this role I was able to send the students weekly check ins, meet with students 1-on-1 and assist them with data analysis and scientific writing. I conducted study sessions for exams and I was also able to teach a unit of the class which gave me great experience with formulating content and explaining concepts to a large group of learners. During this time I also wrote and received a research grant from my school and was able to then assist my peers with their scientific writing skills and thesis development.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide timely responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
