Bio

I’m Megan! I graduated cum laude with a BA in Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology and then went on to get my MS in Physician Assistant Studies. In both degrees, the classes that I took the most away from were not those that I was most interested in material wise but those where I had a professor that made a lasting impact on my life. This was done through mentorship, constructive criticism and lasting kindness and patience. Because this was such an integral part of my learning experience,...

Because this was such an integral part of my learning experience, I try to carry these skills over in to my tutoring approach hoping every student that I work with leaves the appointment feeling supported and understood!

I have experience tutoring in a few settings. First, I was a psychology and neuroscience tutor for my college while I was a junior and senior in my undergrad. This was an amazing experience as I got to work with students at all points of these degrees, and help them formulate study techniques, understand content and improve scores on exams. I then was able to transition into a TA/preceptor role for advanced neuroscience classes where I was a solo tutor to these student cohorts. While in this role I was able to send the students weekly check ins, meet with students 1-on-1 and assist them with data analysis and scientific writing. I conducted study sessions for exams and I was also able to teach a unit of the class which gave me great experience with formulating content and explaining concepts to a large group of learners. During this time I also wrote and received a research grant from my school and was able to then assist my peers with their scientific writing skills and thesis development.

I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide timely responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!

I also took a course specifically on nutrition based biochemistry in my undergrad education to further my medical knowledge of nutrition. During my time on rotations in PA school I was able to put my clinical nutrition knowledge into practice.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I have my Masters of Science in Physician Assistant studies where I had to complete extensive courses on pharmacology and pass numerous pharmacology certification exams for each body system and subject area of medicine. I also was able to clinically practice prescription writing and medication prescribing out on rotations. I also served as a pharmacy technician for over a year before starting PA school which familiarized me with medications and controlled substance training. Additionally, my degree in Neuroscience expanded my knowledge of how drugs work on the brain and I wrote and completed a research grant and study assessing opioid addiction and its affects on brain chemistry.
Psychology

Psychology

I have my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience during which I was able to serve as a student tutor for all levels of psychology classes. I graduated Cum Laude for this degree and was recognized as the Neuroscience Outstanding Major of the Year, highlighting my success in my psychology and neuroscience classes. I also was part of a psych based research team where I got to help with study design and data collection for a psych based research project looking at food cravings and their links to weight and eating disorders.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

During my Bachelors degree I wrote and received a research grant where I was awarded funding based on medical writing to conduct a neuroscience based research project. These are very limited grants with only a small select few students receiving them each year. Additionally, after completing that grant research I constructed a Neuroscience capstone thesis on my findings and presented the work at a Chicago conference for Neuroscience where I placed second in the undergraduate research competition. I then went on to earn my MSPAS degree where I wrote a medical capstone thesis on CTE and the NFLs concussion and return to play protocol where I was able to present this research to a hospital system at large earning high marks and my degree there as well.
