My passion for mathematics began when I was in 11th grade. As a homeschooled student, I had a flexible schedule which allowed me to take Algebra II at Norco College. I had an amazing professor who made me realize how fun math is. After that, I decided to major in math. In May 2012, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor's in Mathematics. For the next two years, I tutored math at Norco College. I realized that I enjoyed sharing my passion for math with others and decided to get my Master's in Mathematics at California State University Fullerton so I could teach at community colleges. While working on my Master's I taught Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra at CSUF. I completed my Master's in the Summer of 2016 and I am currently teaching math at a community college.

I would love to work with you to show you how much fun math can be.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

At Norco College, I frequently tutored Algebra I. My students liked that I was patient and that I had multiple ways of explaining the same concept. I have also edited an Algebra I textbook, which has made me even more familiar with different algebraic concepts and methods of explaining them.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

At Cal State Fullerton, I taught Algebra II to a class of mostly international students. My students were comfortable asking me questions and coming to me during office hours for extra help. At Norco College, I regularly tutored Algebra II and had many students who would specifically ask for me because I was patient and explained ideas clearly. I have learned multiple ways of explaining the same concept so that I can communicate effectively with different students.
Calculus,

Calculus

I took Calculus I, II, and III at Norco College. Also, I occasionally tutored people in Calculus at Norco College. More recently, I taught a student the first few chapters of her calculus book to prepare her for taking Calculus BC at her high school.
Geometry,

Geometry

I first had geometry in high school and enjoyed learning how to prove theorems. I also had an upper division geometry class in college and I am currently taking a Historical Math class which is focusing on geometry at the moment. Whether your student needs help with the basics of geometry, proving theorems, or other challenging concepts, I am happy to help.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I tutored Pre-algebra at Norco College. I enjoyed helping to prepare people for Algebra I by giving them a solid foundation in Pre-algebra.

Precalculus

I tutored Precalculus at Norco College and I also had a private tutoring student who I worked with in Precalculus for a school year.

The Joy of Math!

Math has become my sons favorite subject as a result of tutoring with Joy. He was excited about this evenings session and said that once again Joy made math easy for him to understand. I expect him to do excellent in precalculus.

Joy is an amazing tutor!

Our experience with Joy was just what we needed. She was able to meet with us when we needed her the most. Joy was able to explain the material in a way that my daughter could understand. She was so helpful. We are so grateful for her! We will definitely work with her again.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I basically learned the dependent and independent values of 'x' and 'y' on a graph. Certain other acronyms that pertain to algebra. LCD, GCF and how they apply in fractions. Still, need to work on Word problems for the most part.

She really knows her math so well that she helps me break down problems that look difficult at first and makes it really easy to understand. She is a joy to work with and really makes math fun. She will take you from knowing nothing in math to making you feel like you finally know what you're doing. Her tutoring lessons will definitely improve anybody's grade no matter what skill level you are in math.
