Hi, My name is Charlene! I have extensive experience tutoring Math to middle school through college age students. I love the subject of Mathematics and enjoy helping others to understand it and develop confidence in problem solving. I've done official tutoring at one of the colleges I attended as well as outside tutoring work. As a high school Math teacher, I am aware of the phobia that many students have when they encounter Math. So, one of the main things I focus on is developing students' confidence by relating abstract math concepts to what they already know and making it easy to understand. Through patience and personal attention, I provide my students with the ideal atmosphere to learn and excel.

I am a strong believer that the best way to learn is by doing, so I usually begin with a sample problem, then try to get my student to understand every aspect of the solution process, including the reasons for each step towards the solution. I then introduce similar problems to the student and encourage the student to solve them independently, with help given as needed but being careful not to do all the work for the student. I increase the difficulties of problems as deem appropriate. My goal is to enable students to realize their own strengths while helping address their weaknesses.

I am a certified High School Math Teacher in New Jersey, and I have over five years experience tutoring Math.

3/25- My son is excited to keep his strong hold on Math, he has no problem understanding the math problems, the way Charlene easily explains them! My son is a quiet person, who is excited by his favorite subjects. Math is one of them, and he really felt listened to and his challenges in this 8th grade level of math were clearly explained. He told me that Charlene made it easy to understand. That is a GREAT thing! The most recent session 4/9, Charlene meet with him, and worked with new work that he had just received, earlier that day, with 20 minutes of instruction from the teacher. The one on one from Charlene gave him the clear understanding he needed, homework was "stress free". Thanks Ms C!
