Bio

I am completing a PhD in philosophy at Florida State University. I hold an M.A. in philosophy from FSU, as well as an M.A. in philosophy of religion from Southeastern Seminary. The main course I have taught is Ethical Issues, but I also have experience teaching other undergraduate courses, such as Intro. to Philosophy, Logic/Critical Thinking and Reasoning, Metaphysics, Political Philosophy, and Ethical Theory. The main course I have taught is Ethical Issues, but I also have experience teaching other undergraduate courses, such as Intro. to Philosophy, Logic/Critical Thinking and Reasoning, Metaphysics, Political Philosophy, and Ethical Theory. I also have experience tutoring online for various companies. I have regularly received excellent ratings on my communication skills, my knowledge of the subjects, and my pedagogical techniques.

Philosophy can be confusing, especially if you are not used to thinking about uniquely philosophical questions. I can help students get past the jargon to understand the meaning and relevance of philosophy for their lives. I can also help students to develop the analytic skills that will benefit them in all their endeavors, both inside and outside the classroom.

As a doctoral candidate, I must do a lot of writing. As such, I've learned how to get ideas from the head onto the page in a way that preserves the integrity of the thoughts without making them muddled or incoherent due to grammatical, syntactic, or spelling mistakes. Separately, my undergraduate degree in religious studies has prepared me to teach students about, primarily, the "Abrahamic" faiths, which are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

I am a practicing Christian who holds two degrees related to religious studies. So, I'm equipped both intellectually as well as experientially to teach students not only about the Christian worldview, but also about the similarities and differences between the Christian worldview and other prominent religions.
