I earned my Associate of Arts in Nursing from Howard Community College in 2012 and went on to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Frostburg State University in 2015. My educational background provided me with a strong foundation in nursing theory, clinical practice, and evidence-based care, all of which have supported my success as a practicing nurse and as a mentor to others in the profession. The majority of my teaching experience comes from precepting and mentoring new nursing staff throughout my career. Since becoming a nurse in 2012, I have worked in a broad range of settings, including telemetry, intensive care, home health, and emergency nursing. In each of these environments, I have taken on the role of preceptor, guiding both new graduate nurses and experienced nurses transitioning into new specialties. My approach to teaching focuses on creating a relaxed and approachable environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and learning through hands-on experience. I understand that nursing is a high-pressure and detail-oriented profession, so I prioritize keeping my teaching style light, supportive, and encouraging. I strive to build rapport with my students and preceptees, balancing professionalism with an approachable demeanor. This allows me to help reduce their stress while maintaining a focus on safety, accuracy, and critical thinking. My goal is always to empower new nurses to feel confident and competent as they develop their skills in this challenging but rewarding field.
