The College of New Rochelle (Psychology)
Capella University (Master's)
Walden University (Graduate Coursework)
My name is Dennis,
I am currently a Clinical Psychology doctoral student, with a BA in psychology and social work, and a MS in Counseling Psychology. I also have a NYS credential for alcohol and substance abuse counseling. With all of my educational experience, I have also become quite proficient in study skills, writing - particularly APA, and public speaking.
I am available to tutor any subject related to psychology or addiction, including test preparation. I am also available to tutor some subjects that are not directly associated with psychology, such as reading, writing, biology, study skills, and more.
I have experience teaching in different environments, and my style of teaching changes to suit the learner. My teaching style has helped students that were getting 40's and 50's on their tests begin to achieve 90's and 100's. While results are not guaranteed, I do have a good track record.
I am available to tutor face-to-face, via Skype, or by E-mail. I am also available to teach groups in addition to individuals. Tutoring does not have to be inconvenient.
I look forward to hearing from you. My name is Dennis,

I have been learning about psychology for at least eight years now. I am well versed in most areas of psychology including: history of psychology, lifespan development, personality development, clinical intervention techniques, research, research development, tests and measurements, psychopathology, biological basis of behavior, ethics, assessment tools, and multicultural issues. I love to teach psychology and have plans on teaching at the college level.
I am a graduate student and my degree relies heavily on public speaking. I was trained to speak in public forums since undergraduate school. I have prepared speeches and spoken to crowds and classes both large and small.
I have helped people learn to prepare speeches that not only present information clearly, but also keeps the audience interested and attentive. I have assisted people in becoming more comfortable with public speaking and making their speech more natural and fluid.
As a graduate student, I have been in school for many years, and I have learned many study skills along the way. I have learned that the best way to study is to first learn how the individual learns (not everyone learns the same way). Once it is understood how the person learns, the study skills can be developed around the person's natural abilities, rather than attempting to emulate the way that works for someone else.
My experience with my own study skills, helping others with their study habits, and my psychology background make me well suited to assist others with their study skills.
I was on the varsity swim team in high school, and was on the team for three years. My primary event was the breast stroke, but I was proficient in all strokes (back, butterfly, and freestyle). I competed in many swim meets, and am able to instruct new swimmers in the process and etiquette of the swim competition, as well as the mechanics of each of the strokes.
I am able to work with swimmers at any level, including those that have no ability to swim at all. I am available to teach basic swim skills up to and including competitive swimming for all ages.
I have been in school for four years obtaining my bachelor's degree, three years obtaining my masters degree and now obtaining my doctorate degree. Through all of the years of schooling, writing has been a major aspect. Without superior writing skills, there can be no success in graduate school. I am available to teach the finer points of writing, not only punctuation, and structure, but overall report writing and use of APA style. I am also able to teach MLA style, but I have much more experience with APA.
Many students are able to learn well using E-mail to write back and forth, while some prefer the more personal face-to-face approach. I am available for both styles of tutoring, as well as Skype.
