Hello! I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor's in Secondary Math Education. I'm currently a 7th grade and 7th/ 8th grade intensive math teacher in Jacksonville, Florida. I have been teaching for over 4 years. I have taught everything from 6th grade math to Geometry, but I truly enjoy Algebra related topics.

I am patient teacher who seeks to help all students understand and enjoy math. I use a variety of techniques to help students understand and retain math concepts based on their level of math, such as little tricks to remember a function of math and why mathematically do you arrive at a particular answer. I always try to relate the concepts students are currently learning to real life to spark the students interest in the math topic.

I have been a math teacher for four years. Currently I tutor ACT math at a learning center. I focus on teaching students the conceptual understanding of the material in order for them to solve difficult problems. I also teach students techniques on taking the test to make the best use of their time during the live test.
ADHD

I have been a math teacher/tutor for students with disabilities for over 2 years. Students with ADHD make up the majority of the students I work with to boost their math skills to their current grade level of math and build their confidence in the process. When a student is struggling on a concept I bring the concept down a grade level or two to clear any misconceptions and then have them work towards being on grade level with the concept. Along with helping students get on grade level in math I provide strategies to help students with focusing in class, such as having an object to manipulate can be an excellent tool for maintaining their focus.

Geometry wasn't a subject that clicked with me instantly as a child, that is why I came up with tricks and ways to rationalize concepts that are abstract. I teach each concept step by step and I expect my students to go step by step in problems to ensure simple mistakes are avoided.

I have also taught an Intensive 8th grade math class on teaching Prealgebra students ways to improve their performance in their math class; such as going step by step on paper, rationalizing the steps in their minds; and pinpointing what the questions is asking.

I tutor at a learning center to prepare students for the math SAT/ACT. I’m certified to teach 6-12th math. I break down each concept until the students are able to master the concept. I also testing strategies to students in order for them to use their time wisely during test and faster tactics in solving differently formatted questions.
