Great tutoring session, my son is feeling more confident already! Regina listens well, and will go over a problem as many times as my son needs until he gets it.
I have a son in the eighth grade and although he is capable of the level of schoolwork, he has always done just enough to get by. This year, however, what he thought was enough, wasn't enough and he was failing a few subjects. He has responded to Regina's encouragement and her personality. She knew not to push him too much but has organized him and given him realistic goals. He now realizes that doing well in school makes him feel good about himself and of course he loves the praise he gets from Regina and his family members. Regina has been great with him and always willing to help him with whatever specific assignments he has as well as teaching him overall study skills. I highly recommend Regina.
Regina has helped my adult son prepare for the GED. She has been flexible in her approach, accommodating his learning disability, and acknowledging that he had been away from the academic setting for several years. Most importantly, she keeps him motivated to complete not only the GED, but moving on to college-level courses.
Regina has been tutoring my son for months now. She not only is patient and kind, but is very insightful and can quickly assess the style of learning your child will need, and make the appropriate adjustments. In our case, traditional teaching combined with technology seemed to enhance my son's experience. I would highly recommend Ms. Regina as a tutor, without any hesitation. In concluding this recommendation my 11 year old passed by, and I asked him: "If you had one word to describe Ms. Regina which one would you use?" "She is a good teacher-she's great, I don't really have one word".
Regina has worked with my son who is in college for the past 4 months. She is a very caring, patient and knowledgeable tutor. I would recommend her to anyone who has a child/teen/adult who needs additional assistance in tutoring, getting organized and following thru with assignments.
Regina showed up in a timely manner and she went right to work evaluating my daughter's needs. The session went well, and Regina seems responsive to making adjustments as needed. We have already scheduled several additional lessons.
Regina's done a great job with our daughter, guiding her in college application essay topics, and helping her get a framework for her topics. Regina is also really good at talking thru how the admissions process works, reducing our daughter's anxiety about being accepted.
Ms. Regina, is very personable and seemed to hit it perfectly with my daughter. She liked her a lot!! Her personality and patience makes for a great tutor!
Regina gave slot of good tips on how to improve and make schooling more enjoyable for the girls. She was warm and caring. What I liked most about Regina she does not tell u what you want to hear, she truly assesses and gives her opinion from experience on the situation. I think that with Regina's help, homeschooling is about to get better. She was on time and I would highly recommend her to any family.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have teaching certifications from both NY & VA in science 6-12. I have directed school-based homework help programs for grades K-3 in all subjects. In curriculum development, I was selected to help write technology and science standards for grades K-8. I routinely score assessment testing in reading, writing, mathematics, and science for grades 3-12. I have also developed summer magnet programs for grades 3-5.
Classroom teachers offer many study tips including outlining, note-taking, and the use of flash cards. These tools are important, but so is the ability to determine what content will be on quizzes and tests--what do they really need to know in each chapter or unit? Helping students develop long-term, effective study skills is a fundamental step in lifelong learning. The sooner students are shown ways to remember facts and truly understand concepts, the easier and less stressful their education becomes. Study skills can be learned and improved through a variety of ways, depending on the person's learning style and age. Experiencing learning success is a key motivating factor and I can help make the process of learning both more enjoyable and more productive.
The Test of Essential Academic Skills [TEAS] has 170 multiple choice questions covering English, Reading, Math, and Science. It is important to prepare effectively for the TEAS and to understand the strategies you need to use in answering the questions correctly. I have developed my own strategy guides, which I provide for each TEAS student. The TEAS does not allow you to use a calculator, so most students need a mathematics refresher before taking this test. The science questions cover topics that most students haven't studied for awhile, so this area also needs preparation. Since I have taught and tutored in these subject areas, I can help ensure your TEAS success.
