With a passion for education and over two decades of experience in teaching, writing, curriculum development, and entrepreneurship, I bring a unique blend of academic expertise and real-world application to my tutoring. I graduated with honors as a double major in English and Political Science before earning a PhD from Cornell University, where I taught freshman writing seminars and graduate-level courses in political philosophy and social theory. This diverse background allows me to support learners effectively in analytical writing, critical thinking, career development, and business building.

In addition to my dissertation on Kantian autonomy and human science, I have published on topics ranging from Modern European philosophy to undergraduate curriculum development. Notable works include Essays on Kant's Anthropology (Cambridge University Press, 2003) and "Openness and the Decline of the (Textbook) Author"; (Inside Higher Ed, 2017). My current work includes a Substack series, "Techne in the Academy," where I explore the evolving role of technology in education. I also contributed to the editorial decisions and translation of Kant's works for Cambridge University Press, a project that earned me a Visiting Fellowship at Yale University.

Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of education, technology, and publishing, founding and leading two innovative EdTech companies that have provided digital learning solutions to hundreds of thousands of students and educators. My teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, engagement, and confidence-building, ensuring that students not only refine their work but also strengthen their ability to think and communicate effectively.

Business

Business

As a serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience founding and scaling companies in EdTech and digital learning, I bring deep, real-world expertise to business tutoring. I’ve raised close to $20M in angel & venture funding, led successful M&A negotiations, and built strategic partnerships with major institutions. My tutoring blends theory with practical insights in business strategy, innovation, product development, and leadership—ideal for students and professionals alike.
Career Development

Career Development

Having mentored startup founders, college students, and mid-career professionals, I offer personalized guidance for navigating career transitions, resume building, interview prep, and long-term strategic planning. As a founder and CEO who has hired and led cross-functional teams, I understand what employers look for and how to help clients align their unique strengths with market opportunities.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I’ve spent more than three decades working in and around higher education, beginning as a college faculty member and later founding two education technology companies focused on improving teaching, learning, and student outcomes. My work has consistently centered on helping students succeed, whether through classroom instruction or the development of tools used by colleges and universities across the country. This dual perspective, grounded in both academic practice and educational innovation, gives me a clear understanding of how institutions make decisions and what students need to thrive within them. I offer guidance informed by real-world experience navigating the academic landscape from both inside and outside the classroom.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

With decades of experience in higher education, including as a faculty member, instructor of freshman writing seminars, and founder of two edtech companies focused on teaching and learning, I bring a deep understanding of what colleges value in student writing. I’ve mentored undergraduates in critical thinking and persuasive expression, and my work in education technology keeps me closely engaged with evolving admissions standards. I help students craft personal statements that are authentic, compelling, and distinctively their own, emphasizing originality, clarity, voice, and narrative coherence. These are not just skill for admissions applications; they’re foundational to success in college and to what lies beyond that.
Sociology

Sociology

With a PhD in Political Philosophy and Social Theory from Cornell, my approach to sociology is grounded in both academic depth and contemporary relevance. I specialize in classical and modern sociological theory, social institutions, cultural critique, and critical theory. I’ve taught at the university level (from freshman writing seminars to graduate level courses) and published with leading publishers, such as Cambridge University Press, on intersections of philosophy, society, and education—making complex ideas accessible and engaging.
