Hey there! My name is Patrick. I am a philosophy and political science graduate, as well as a seasoned competitive chess player and correspondence master. My expertise also spans a number of other fields in the humanities and social sciences, including European and American history, geography, and English, as well as editing, proofreading, and writing.
The only thing I am more passionate about than my favorite subjects is sharing them with others. As a teacher, I tailor my instruction to fit the individual needs of my student, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and helping them to set and achieve goals. I accept students of all ages, both online and in person.
My philosophy of teaching is shaped by my own unique educational journey. I learned the value of quality one-on-one instruction at a young age, since I was homeschooled by my hardworking, self-employed parents, in collaboration with a number of caring tutors.
After earning three associate's degrees in two years at a local community college (philosophy, political science, social and behavioral science), I transferred to the private California Lutheran University, where I earned a dual bachelor's degree after two more years of study (philosophy and political science), graduating Summa Cum Laude (3.9+ GPA) with Departmental Honors.
Apart from my academic pursuits, I am a longtime competitive chess player, USCF-certified correspondence master, and coach. I also play piano and guitar, dabble in songwriting and composition, and volunteer for an animal rescue organization.
Please let me know if you have any questions or are interested in scheduling a trial lesson. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Take care,
Patrick
