Hello, I'm Diego. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, and I currently work as a mechanical engineer. During college, I realized that my high school math courses hadn't fully prepared me for the advanced topics I would encounter. It took a lot of hard work to catch up, and I want to help make that path smoother for other students. STEM subjects can be challenging, but one-on-one support can make a huge difference.
I have about four years of experience tutoring students of all ages — from second graders learning elementary math to college students studying calculus for engineering. I began as an after-school tutor at an underserved elementary school, working one-on-one and in small groups to support students in math. In college, I also tutored friends and classmates in engineering math courses such as Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. More recently, I’ve worked as a substitute teacher, focusing on high school-level math such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I taught full lessons to entire classrooms and followed up with individual students to ensure they understood the material. I prioritize clear, engaging instruction and always aim to "show" rather than just "tell," using examples of varying difficulty to build confidence and understanding.
My priority as a tutor is to meet students where they are and tailor sessions to their individual goals. Some students just want to pass a course they’re struggling with; others want to go deeper and explore the “why” behind the concepts. I’m here to support both. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session — I look forward to working with you!
