Having been born and raised in Montreal, Canada, I grew up speaking and writing in French. I attended French schools all of my life which means I have more than just a few years of French learning but my whole education was immersed in French only. Not only can I say I speak French but lived in a French cultural environment. I spoke English too because my father was British which means that I learned how to translate back and forth between the two languages (that was very helpful at my jobs in Montreal). Once in College, I minored in French while majoring in the Arts and Graphic Design. The minor consisted of reading and studying about all the great writers such as Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Albert Camus, Beaudelaire, etc.

While working in Montreal, I was the proofreader for French and English for all the graphic design brochures I designed and printed. Therefore, my French is considered university level.
I have tutored one to one in Montreal as well as in Los Angeles. I have a passion tutoring others the French language for I enjoy seeing them speaking my mother tongue. My focus is on practical application, that is, the student will learn French conversation as opposed to only vocabulary and grammatical rules. He or she will also learn French expressions spoken by Francophones. I offer hands-on practical exercises for day to day conversations in French as well as learning writing skills. I try to make learning French challenging but fun at the same time.

I also need to mention here that I also tutor computer software courses on the Mac such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign including Acrobat. I have a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and have taught one to one courses to students at their home. Preferably, the student should have a Mac of their own, but I do have a laptop in case the need arises.

Also, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, I can also tutor drawing classes in charcoal, pencil, and garandache (water color pencils).

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign

As a professional graphic designer, I work most of my time in InDesign for designing brochures, magazines, book covers and other layouts. I am advanced in InDesign and have been using this software since it first came out. I have mastered it and most of my work is done in this program.
Drawing

Drawing

I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts which means I draw in charcoal, pencil, watercolor pencils. My style is realistic and sometimes very detailed. I have furthered my studies by taking extra drawing classes at UCLA and had some of my work exposed at the UCLA website for artists.
French

French

I am a French speaking native of Montreal. I have lived most of my life in a French speaking environment, not just taking courses in French as many tutors only had the opportunity to do. This means I know not only the vocabulary and grammar but also well known expressions and the culture itself, music, food etc. I have also studied in a French University in Montreal which means I had to pass the national exam for French which is quite tough in order to get my degree. My minor was in French literature. My method of tutoring would be a hands-on approach with practical exercises and having fun at the same time. I have experience tutoring children from ages 6 to 18 as well as tutoring adults who have never learned French to those who want to brush up on their French. Therefore, I hope you will consider me as your tutor.
Macintosh

Macintosh

I am certified to teach the use of the MacIntosh computer since I am a graphic designer and work solely with the Mac. I have been using a Mac for over 15 years for my work and have been using most of the software that is meant to work on a Mac as well as the iLife programs that initially come with the Mac.
Painting

Painting

Besides having studied graphic design and having a bachelor's degree in that field, I also have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Waterloo University in Ontario, Canada. This degree certifies that I have acquired this degree by studying and doing painting, drawing and sculpture. However, for the past 5 years, I have re-submerged myself in watercolor art and would love to teach people how to craft this art and to get excited about learning it.

MACBOOK TUTOR

I recently switched from PC to MacBook and Nicole helped me navigate the new computer and how to create a filing system for my business. This was my first time using Wyzant and I think getting a tutor was a great idea as it gave me more confidence with my new laptop. Thanks Nicole!

Kind and humble tutor

She was kind, patient, humble and in general a great teacher. She has a great balance of stopping to let you ask questions, write notes and infodumps. My son has written several pages of notes during his class. 10/10 would recommend.

Great with InDesign beginners

Having never used InDesign, and despite the session being short due to the volume of teaching that we went through, I already feel like I have learnt the crucial basics. Nicole was very patient in trying to understand my questioning (I certainly don't know all the right terminology), and in her subsequent explanations. Once I have had time to practice and do some 'trial by error', I shall certainly call on her again for further teaching to advance my skills.
