Hello! I am very excited to introduce myself and my background in the field of education. I have been teaching both as a full time teacher and as a substitute for over twenty years. My educational background includes a four year degree from California State University, Fullerton, and an advanced Masters degree in education from the University of Phoenix. My California teaching credential includes completion of a 15 week teacher training development with the Los Angeles Unified School District, and I hold a clear California Multiple Subject teaching credential.

Some of the areas of expertise in helping young students includes language arts, reading, writing, and mathematics. Through lesson development, assessment, and using key learning strategies, I am able to help students to attain the academic goals they want to achieve.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with you, and I am confident that positive outcomes can be achieved in the classroom for your child. Having the right coach or mentor sometimes can make all the difference in our success. I know I would not have achieved the success I have had without the help and support of so many good caring people in my journey.

Please contact me so we can talk more about your child's academic needs.

Common Core

Common Core

As a teacher who works with common core on a daily basis I am highly qualified and well seasoned in the common core application. The common core allows me as an educator to target all of the specific standards in each of the key subject areas of learning that takes place in the classroom. Some of those areas for example include, reading literature, and reading informational text competency. Another area of focus would be writing. Standard W3 focuses on narrative writing and sequencing. As a teacher I use the common core to develop the lessons that I will teach, and determine the objectives that students will be able to do by the time they finish a particular lesson.

Handwriting

Handwriting

Handwriting is such a critical skill to know and learn. As a teacher I always focus on three key areas. The first is letter formation. When I work with students I model and show them the proper way to form letters and to make sure each letter has the proper slant angles. The next areas I work on with students is making sure when they write they are creating letters and words that are proper size. Size adds continuity and consistency to the handwriting process and is a key area that I always focus on. The last area that is essential is proper spacing of letters and words. Finally, one other area that I work on with my students is proper pencil grip. How a student holds a pencil is critical to developing good handwriting habits and skills

Excellent

Steven recently started tutoring my 10 year-old daughter in math and I am very pleased thus far with the results. My daughter told me she is starting to understand the concepts more easily, and she is starting to generally feel more comfortable with the material. Thank you, Steven!

Great teacher!

Steve did an awesome job and worked well with my son. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything so my son understood. My son is dyslexic and had ADHD so he’s not exactly the easiest to work with. Thank you Steve!

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

My son learned so much from just the first session. He has a hard time focusing and the fact that he did learn as much as he did after 1 session was amazing. The proof was in the pudding right there. Thank you Steven.
