About Sarah

Bio

I am currently a high school math teacher in Orange County! I've been teaching high school math at a public school for the last 8 years and I've been tutoring math for over 10 years. I love math and I've always had a passion for teaching, which is why I decided teaching as a career back when I was in high school. My hope is that all students will have a love (or at least an appreciation) for math.

I have taught almost all levels of high school math. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Common Core Math 1, Common Core Math 2, Geometry, etc. I've also taught middle school mathematics over summer school and have tutored several middle school students in the past.

I taught Algebra 2 for 1 year years before it turned into Common Core Math, and taught Math 3 (its close equivalent) for the last 3 years.
Common Core

I was on the team that developed the curriculum for Irvine Unified School District's Math Common Core classes. I was on a team with 2 high school teacher representatives from each school 5 years ago when we adopted Common Core. Since 5 years ago, I have continually taught Math 1 and Math 2 Common Core, designing lessons and curriculum around those standards. Our textbooks are all CCSS aligned.

I taught Geometry for 3 years before it turned into Common Core Math, and taught Math 2 (its close equivalent) for the last 5+ years. I also taught Math1 which has a lot of Geometry. concepts as well.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

This course is a prerequisite for every course I currently teach. I also taught pre-algebra for 2 summers, just to remind myself of the newest standards for middle school courses.
