Hey everyone! My name is Kiernan and I am an educator based in Orange County, California. I received my Bachelors degree from Northwestern University and since then, I have been tutoring and teaching children of all ages in both chess and math.

I have been playing chess for the past 23 years and have a USCF rating of 1700. I have competed in over 100 tournaments nationally. Having been both a chess student and a chess teacher, I believe that I will be able to create a specialized lesson plan for any level of student(s). As a former student, I understand how big of an impact a teacher can have on the learning and enjoyment of chess. As a teacher, I have taught chess for 9 years to students ages K-8 and have experience teaching all different types of students.

Officially, I have been a math tutor for a year but I believe my experience can go back to tutoring my friends in high school. I always received straight A's in my math classes, and got a 35 on my ACT Math. I am also currently enrolled in graduate school to become a middle school math teacher, and passed my Math CSET Subtests I & II. I have experience tutoring all different types of students, and being able to meet all of their needs with specific lesson plans. My strong points include elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, and word problems.
