I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering and have been teaching math on a part time basis for over 25 plus years. I have provided private Math Tutoring to kids from Grades 2-11 (Math including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and Honors Geometry).

In 2001, I successfully passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) required by the state of California for all prospective teachers.

I have actively participated in teaching Math for the "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND PROGRAM" in Placentia, Yorba Linda, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and Newport - Costa Mesa School Districts (2nd Grade to 11th Grade).

I have also taught after-school interactive SAT Math programs at a private High School in Orange County to students from Connelly, Servite and Rosary High Schools. I have also taught Honors Geometry to High School students from Uni Hi School in Irvine, Troy High School in Fullerton and Fountain Valley High School.

ACT Math

I have helped private high school students in Orange County prepare for the ACT Math test. The ACT Mathematics Test is a 60-question, 60-minute test designed to measure the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken by the end of 11th grade. Students have difficulty recalling and confidently applying all the Math concepts they have learned in the past 4-5 years. That requires a skillful teacher to help bridge all those Math concepts learned in the past 4-5 years. I help students to skillfully navigate and confidently build those skills to successfully prepare for the ACT Math test. I have also taught Geometry, Algebra and SAT to advanced Math students, as well as, helped middle school and high school students to achieve success in competency-based remedial Math programs.

I have demonstrated that by helping kids facing OCD/ADD/ADHD for over 10-years. I have applied this philosophy specifically in dealing with kids facing attention related challenges and have made a remarkable difference in the lives of numerous kids. It is because I choose to see the child first before the behavior; and have learned to differentiate the child from the behavior. ASVAB

The U.S. Department of Defense developed the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) in 1968. The ASVAB measures an individual's developmental abilities and helps predict academic and occupational success in the military. Although the ASVAB has eight sections, your scores in four critical areas will determine whether you're qualified to enlist in the armed forces. Your scores in the other areas will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. Arithmetic Reasoning The second part of the ASVAB is Arithmetic Reasoning. This part consists of 30 questions that measure a student's ability to understand and solve mathematic word problems. Students are given 36 minutes to answer the questions. This is ONE OF FOUR critical sections that contribute to the armed forces score that determines whether students are eligible to enlist in the military. In the past 25 years, I have helped numerous students to prepare confidently and effectively for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB test. This has given them an opportunity to feel a great sense of accomplishment as it opened up doors for them to pursue a bona fide career in the armed forces with dignity and pride. I have successfully passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) in 2001. The results were forwarded to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing by National Evaluation Systems, Inc. (NES). The exam is a four hour test required by the state of California for all prospective teachers. The purpose of the Math Section is to test your ability to interpret more than compute. Therefore you will seldom be asked to perform long division or add overly complicated fractions. You will be asked to interpret data from graphs and charts; identify very large or very small numbers; understand formulas; perform multiplication, division, addition and subtraction, and evaluate number patterns and relationships. Since 2001, I have helped private students to successfully prepare for the CBEST Math Section and have produced remarkable results. My hands-on interactive and collaborative teaching style make these lessons a fun-filled and productive learning experience for the student. I believe that the rapid changes in cognitive, social, and moral growth of an elementary school student makes the elementary education an ideal setting for shaping individual attitudes and behaviors. The GED Mathematics Test tests students' knowledge of arithmetic, algebra and geometry. Many questions are posed as sentence problems so that students will need to understand concepts in these statements. The test is divided into halves, the first half allowing the use of a calculator and the other not allowing the use of the calculator. In the past 25 years, I have helped numerous GED candidates (MINORS & ADULTS) to study, take and successfully pass the GED Mathematics Test, which measures high school level skills and knowledge. This has given them an opportunity to feel a great sense of accomplishment as it opened up doors for them to enter college with pride. The GRE Mathematics Test is a test of one's knowledge with proper understanding. In general, the questions are intended not only to test recall of information but also to assess test takers' understanding of fundamental concepts and the ability to apply those concepts in various situations. Since academic programs and standards among elementary and pre-secondary schools differed so widely, it was difficult to compare academic ability based on grades and other school-specific performance measures. To solve this problem, the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB) was formed, which developed the SSAT. The SSAT measures student ability. It is not an achievement test; therefore, it acts as a common denominator for schools in measuring a student’s academic capabilities, regardless of school record. When used for admission by independent schools, the test is only one piece of information that is considered. Schools also review the applicant’s school grades, extracurricular participation, teacher recommendations, essays and interview results. SSAT scores, however, do carry some weight in varying degrees among independent schools. Consequently, you should be as prepared to take the test as possible. Participation in this testing exercise will also provide you with valuable information regarding your educational strengths and weaknesses. SSAT test can begin the process of learning how to effectively sit for the ACT and SAT tests with age appropriate material. While education is the life-blood of civilization, I firmly believe that study skills, is an essential ingredient for procuring a productive education and creating a successful life. I have worked with parents to play a vital role in helping youngsters develop strong study skills. Four of the most critical study skills are: organization and time management, note taking, test taking and reading. As an educator, while helping students establish strong study skills, I have witnessed that students with great study skills, have an attitude set towards motivation, commitment, dedication, teamwork, and determination. These attributes have inspired them to go above and beyond the normal expectations at school and in life. Furthermore, study skills have taught my students the focused discipline needed to be happy and feel empowered in life. I believe that it is the quality and not the quantity of studying that makes the difference. This “quality of studying” is cultivated through the development of effective study skills. Understanding is not the same as learning, but good study skills foster a learning environment rooted in understanding. It further culminates the feeling of self-responsibility in a student by teaching them time management skills. As a result, they become more prone to making an optimum choice of staying on course to their desired outcomes in academics and in life. Furthermore, taking ownership and making wise choices in response to challenges make them feel worthy in life. Over the years, I have helped many high school math students at all learning levels understand basic trigonometry and master the fundamentals of trigonometry. My students develop the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to succeed on high school math exams, advanced placement tests, and passing high school graduation exams. Mr. A.'s helpful suggestions helped my son to understand the key principles involved with interpreting and solving logarithms. Our tutor was prepared with two white boards, markers and few simple props to explain what logarithms are and why they are used in math. We contacted Meher for some one-on-one tutoring for ACT test prep only two weeks before the test.
