I’m Silas! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies, where I spent significant time building and refining my writing and communication skills. After graduation, I spent a year in a graduate-level seminary program, gaining even more experience writing academic papers. During my time at university and seminary, I spent three years teaching via in person and online in an academic resource center designed to help college-age students write with clarity, structure, and focus. This included tutoring, revising, and designing classroom workshops at the university level to help students succeed in their writing, biblical studies, and literature classes.
My tutoring methods include how to brainstorm ideas, choose topics, craft topic sentences, build thesis statements, quote and cite sources proficiently, and master the art of essay structure and clarity. Personally, I’ve found the magic of writing often happens during the revision process, where excellent ideas are sharpened to transform C papers into A papers.
My entire adult life has been dedicated to reading, interpreting, and communicating sacred texts in conjunction with my pastoral career. Whether writing or tutoring academic papers at university, or preparing a Sunday sermon, the foundational elements of writing and communication are always present. This has greatly shaped my tutoring approach, and I’m excited to share my process so you can communicate what you’re passionate about with excellence.
