Hello! I'm Ellie. With a BA in Media Arts from Emerson College, I'm passionate about writing, history, and meaningful storytelling as a freelance writer, editor, filmmaker, actor, and writing mentor. When I was in school, what always made the most difference were great teachers that made the material accessible. I’m familiar with not just what makes great stories tick, but what your teachers are getting at with those pesky homework prompts. As a published novelist, I can help with writing, too! We’ll explore the best ways to communicate your ideas, whether it’s for a term paper or college application or anything in between. I’m also a huge history buff. One of my favorite things about it is exploring the nuances of how people have always dreamed, loved, laughed, and cried the same from 1066 to 2025. Whether it’s getting past the old-fashioned language and daunting reputation of a classic book, remembering dates on a history test, or structuring a paper to communicate your ideas, we’ll develop personalized attack plans to find what one of my favorite college professors always called “your way in.”
In my junior and senior years of high school, I was a peer mentor, working with underclassmen to ace their English and History classes by taking this very approach. But my experience doesn’t end there. Beginning in 2010, I was selected to be a mentor on youngwriterssociety.com, guiding users through different ways to express their creativity. In 2018, I was promoted to Community Manager on the site, a position I held for a further five years. In 2022, I started teaching driver’s ed in my home state of Wisconsin. The following year, I moved out to sunny California, becoming a licensed driving instructor in the state. In the time since, I’ve helped countless teens go from having no driving experience at all to being confident travelers on the road.
