I am a retired school director and bilingual kindergarten teacher. I am also a mom to three young men, all of whom had different learning styles and needs. Throughout my career as an educator and having ushered my three boys through both private and public school settings, I have learned that one of the greatest indicators of student success is relationships between teacher and student. Sometimes a classroom teacher and student don’t mix, and a student can get lost and feel unmotivated. Sometimes, a tutor can fill that need for a student. The gift that a tutor has through one on one instruction is the time to develop a relationship and really understand what the student knows, what they are interested in and how to create a plan together to get a student to where they want to be. I hope to be that bridge for you/your child.

In my early teaching days I was a bilingual instructor in Elementary education. I love teaching young children and helping them find the light within themselves.

Throughout my teaching career I have taught writing, grammar and vocabulary in many different settings. I am an avid reader, writer and researcher and love helping filling in the gaps with my students.

Please contact me to learn more about how we can work together to get you the results you want in school. I look forward to hearing from you!

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

As a teacher I taught Bilingual elementary school, and I have ushered 3 of my own children through elementary school. Two of my sons really struggled with math from 4th through 6th grades, but together and with help, we got through it. Through helping them, I honed my own skills. Along the way, we learned some great techniques. I taught these skills to other students during after school tutoring sessions.
English

English

I have taught Elementary School and tutored English for over 20 years. I am currently a school administrator and work closely with parents of and students who struggle with reading and writing and maintaining focus. I have used proven techniques that help to break down subject matter into accessible chunks, and helping students make plans to better use their time. I focus on what a child does well, and use that as a springboards to make plans that help a child approach the work with ease and confidence.
Reading

Reading

I have a specialized experience teaching both Pre-K and Kindergarten. As a bilingual Kindergarten teacher, I learned that the best way for young students to learn new content is through a combination of song, recitation, manipulative exploration, interactive read-aloud, free writing, and other hands on and experiential learning opportunities. Not only have I taught young children, but as a preschool director, was responsible for training preschool and Pre-k teachers how to teach pre-reading and reading skills.
Spanish

Spanish

I began learning Spanish at the age of ten with informal instruction from native speaking friends. I began formal instruction at the age of twelve and was fluent by the age of fifteen when I studied and lived in Spain for a year. I continued to study Spanish language and literature in college when I spent another year and a half living in Spain, studying the language and culture. Upon graduating from college, I began teaching Bilingual Kindergarten. All classes and subjects were conducted in both English and Spanish. I continue to read in Spanish and converse in Spanish daily, and tutor Spanish regularly.
Writing

Writing

As an elementary school teacher and early education teacher, I am experienced in teaching the mechanics of writing. As a writer of blog posts and articles for education related publications, I am an experienced writer. I focus on grammar, spelling, word choice, the art of self editing, and reading the works of others to help a student find their own unique voice.
