Having taught, tutored, and coached ESL and English for over 15 years now, I have a passion for proper communication - writing, speaking, listening, reading, presenting, persuading, and negotiating. In 2006, I earned a Master's degree in Communication/Organizational Leadership from the University of Denver. I also completed a Certification in Teaching English (TESL) from the University of Colorado. I hold a Further Certificate in Teaching Business English from the International House, San Diego, CA. I've traveled within 4 continents and taught students from over 40 different nations!

My experience includes teaching and coaching at several language schools, colleges, and universities. Test preparation is another service I focus on including the IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, US Citizenship, and GED exams. Currently, I also teach Business English, working with corporate clients and their families of all ages and levels of English acquisition. I spent over 25 years in the business world in both New York and Denver, and taught business, leadership, management, marketing, and communication on college campuses and online for 5 years. In the past few years, I have guest taught at every level of education - from kindergarten through college and taught Composition II/Research Writing at the university level. These experiences enable me to work with all ages and levels of learning with ease!

With regard to different learning styles, my coaching sessions include a combination of visual stimulation, use of tactile objects, games, and open dialogue. I believe in mixing things up to keep sessions interesting. Since auditory learners acquire knowledge by hearing themselves speak, I include the opportunity for each individual to share and speak openly in my sessions. I've specialized in IELTS and TOEFL exam preparation for over 5 years now! As an IELTS invigilator at the Denver Regional Center for this British university entrance exam, I administrated and managed the student test for several years. I've taught IELTS preparation classes at a few language schools and continue to do so, as well as coach students individually and in small groups.

My Associates degree in in Buying & Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology/State Univ of New York. Additionally, I spent over 25 years in Marketing in both New York and Denver, with companies like Honeywell (9 years as Merchandising Manager), Dex One (Dex Media - 4 years as an Advertising Consultant), and various telecommunication or data communication firms.

I have been teaching English & ESL for over 12 years. Part of my ESL Speaking coaching sessions includes pronunciation. This involves skilled use of stresses and intonation in the English language. I incorporate use of phonics drills and clear speaking principles, sounding out problem sounds and stresses with my clients.

Having taught English/ESL for over 15 years and college for 6 years, I have proofread hundreds of papers! I teach my students the proper editing symbols and use these standardized symbols to help students improve their writing. Additionally, I check format for MLA or APA citations for all research papers. It is amazing to watch improvements, as we focus on the real issues! My Master's degree is in Communication/Organizational Leadership from DU.

My qualifications for teaching Public Speaking includes a Master's degree in Communication/Organizational Leadership, focusing on speaking & writing from the University of Denver. Throughout my 6 years of teaching at the college level, my students have been trained to give superb presentations and to speak in public. Finally, I spent over 25 years in the business world giving presentations and public speaking, including over 9 years with Honeywell in New York. My speaking career began at the age of 14, when I travelled statewide on the forensics team.

One of my favorite memories growing up was being in spelling bees, while in grade school! Spelling is extremely important and can cause your answer to be completely incorrect in some exams. In teaching academic ESL, I hold spelling contests and give tests on this important skill. I have a passion for teaching spelling and inspiring others to spell with care!

I learned study skills at an early age. These skills propelled me to continue my education, achieving a Master's degree with a 3.98/4.00 GPA. My GPA improved over the years with increased focus and diligence. Organization and self-confidence play a large role in studying successfully!

Additionally, I have coached clients in preparing for these university entrance tests with great success! Test preparation is one of my specialties, and I have been an IELTS Invigilator at the local exam center for several years. With a passion for proper communication, vocabulary is key in acquiring excellent speaking and writing skills. I teach students how to improve their vocabulary. Reading is an important factor here, and reading the proper books, texts, and publications!

An American English native speaker, my writing experience includes writing online lectures for an international textbook publisher. I taught Writing II or research writing at the university level. I have taught college courses for several years that have required capstone projects with extensive research writing. Additionally, I have taught essay writing to ESL beginning, intermediate, and advanced students and to all levels of the educational system. Writing is one of my passions and I love to show others how to self-edit!
