Hi! I'm AJ, a Finance and Business Data Analytics student at Arizona State University in the Barrett Honors College. Mathematics has been my #1 passion since the age of 6! I love working with students to help them achieve their math and chess goals! I began tutoring in 2019 serving as a teacher assistant and volunteer math tutor at my high school. I also fed my passion for mathematics and academics by taking AP classes and being a member of the National Honor Society and Chess Club.

Hi! I'm AJ, a Finance and Business Data Analytics student at Arizona State University in the Barrett Honors College. Mathematics has been my #1 passion since the age of 6! I love working with students to help them achieve their math and chess goals! I began tutoring in 2019 serving as a teacher assistant and volunteer math tutor at my high school. I also fed my passion for mathematics and academics by taking AP classes and being a member of the National Honor Society and Chess Club.
Shortly after the pandemic began in the Spring of 2020, I started an 8-week small group math program for local elementary school students who were struggling with the closure of school and the subsequent transition to online learning. After receiving positive feedback from parents, I felt confident in starting my own tutoring business. In the summer of 2021, I added chess lessons to my service offerings. Outside of math, I enjoy karate, chess, strategy games, music, hiking, & consuming personal development content.
Overall, my teaching style allows students to demonstrate what they already know about math-related concepts, and then providing them with instruction + support to increase and fine-tune their knowledge. The students who meet with me on a consistent basis are the ones who benefit the most. I work with students in K-12, as well as those taking undergraduate college math courses.
I offer virtual and in-person tutoring 7 days a week. In-person sessions are at the Southeast Regional Library + Perry Library in Gilbert, AZ. Please check the library hours to ensure they are open during your preferred meeting time. I typically meet with students at any open table available.
I'm easy to reach out to and will do my best to provide prompt responses! I look forward to hearing from you and helping you or your children achieve their math goals!

I have tutored Geometry to students for the last 4 years. I often encounter students who are struggling and stuck. I find that explaining concepts to them through verbal and visual approaches, results in the shifting of the student's perspective and the removal of the barriers they were initially facing.

I feel that Prealgebra is a significant stepping stone into Algebra, which helps us represent problems as mathematical expressions. By showing its real-life applications, I am committed to helping students gain an appreciation for it and math beyond.

Precalculus is a significant stepping stone to learning Calculus and as such, I am committed to helping students understand and master the subject. In addition to my patience, I utilize visual techniques that help students successfully grasp concepts.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have both a personal (scored a perfect score of 800) and professional (have tutored students since 2020) approach to preparing students for the Math Section of the SAT. I feel the best way to prepare for the SAT Math test is to have the student work on practice tests during our sessions. This allows me the opportunity to identify the student's area of weakness and address them as we go along. I also share strategies in how to effectively read questions in order to avoid common mistakes. I am committed to making sure each and every student achieves an increase in their score.

AJ has helped my daughters confidence with Pre calc

AJ is such a wonderful tutor for my daughter, who is a high school Junior taking Pre calc. He explains each unit in a way she can understand the material. She started off overthinking the lessons and having little confidence in the subject to now being able to solve more and more on her own. AJ is very responsive and always on time to her tutor sessions. I am so thankful to have found him and grateful for all he is teaching my daughter.

From the very beginning, AJ was responsive w/ messages and easy to work with in setting a date. My daughter was struggling w/ Pre-Calculus. After her first tutoring session w/ AJ, she felt less overwhelmed and now feels more confident about her math homework problems.
