About Sheila

I have over eight years of experience with live and online classroom instruction with individuals, and in group settings. I am a Microsoft Certified Trainer and hold certifications in SharePoint, Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. I consistently receive high scores on my class evaluations from students and corporate clients.

My goal for each session is to engage students by making topics relatable. I get great satisfaction with helping others learn, and will strive to make learning both challenging and enjoyable for you. Why enjoyable? I believe stress and lack of confidence can block learning. Confidence builds skills!

I have taught and tutored both adults and children. I understand the need to stay on top of your game in the office, and constantly build new skills. I also have three kids, and know that school is demanding. Sometimes kids (and adults) just need to see lessons displayed by a different voice.

My cancellation policy is 24-hours’ notice. I do understand juggling family, school, and work life, and that sometimes appointments can’t be kept. We’ll do our best to make up material on another day.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

My job is enhancing the careers of others. I am currently a full-time instructor at a Technical Training facility for adults. We work with corporate clients, as well as students who have received grants through the AZ WIA (Workforce Investment Act) program. I teach the Microsoft Office suite, Visio, Project Professional, SharePoint End-User through Administrator, PMP supporting classes (currently pursuing my PMP), and business skills classes such as Organization and Presentation Skills. I am certified as an MCT, and hold Office Master Certification in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint, I am also a Specialist in SharePoint. I use real-world scenarios to help build confidence and skills in all my students. If the curriculum we're using doesn't have a great example, I will create one.

Microsoft Access

I have been teaching Access for over five years, in both 2010 and 2013 versions. I hold a certification in Access as a Microsoft Office Specialist, the highest level test for this program, along with having Microsoft Office Master Certification. In 2013, I became a Microsoft Certified Trainer for Microsoft Office programs.

Microsoft Excel

I have been teaching Excel for over five years, and hold an Expert level certification in Excel. I also have Microsoft Office Master Certification, and am a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Excel is such a useful program, both at work and at home. Some of my favorite features of Excel are Pivots and Charts because you can visually represent large sets of data in a clean, concise form.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been teaching Outlook 2007 - 365 for over five years. I use Outlook daily both at home and at work to stay organized in my email, calendar and task lists. I have created custom workshops on using Outlook to organize your day.

Microsoft Project

I have been using and teaching Microsoft Project for over five years. I also teach Project Management principles following the PMBOK methodology, and can help you bridge PMBOK principles into your Microsoft Project data files. I am particularly passionate about using Project with Outlook and SharePoint to manage projects easily and effectively with team members.

Microsoft Windows

As an MCT and Microsoft Product instructor, I spend most of my time on PCs. I have taught classes on Windows 7, Windows 8 & 8.1 for laptops and tablets, and will be teaching Windows 10 as the opportunities arise. Class features for Operating Systems have ranged from the basic navigation functions to Control Panel options, User setup, and security features.

Public Speaking

I am currently a full-time instructor at a Technical Training facility for adults. I speak in front of groups as my job. My company has live, online, and blended classes, so I often tailor the presentation to include learners in various locations. I have created a custom 4-hour workshop that focuses on enhancing your presentation skills. I combine topics such as: de-cluttering your PowerPoints, knowing your audience, and knowing the topic you’re presenting. We cover organization of information for both the presenter and the audience, and staying calm in what could be considered a stressful situation.
Corporations I work with have consistently requested me as an instructor because I present information in a way that is easy for their employees to grasp and apply.
