composition (music) I have been composing music since the age of 9. I have studied formally and independently ever since then. I compose for a wide variety of ensembles, mostly instrumental, and my style can vary from piece to piece. My main influences come from the post-romantic era, mainly Rachmaninov, Holst, and Stravinsky. I have many works self-published, as well as professionally recorded by amateur and collegiate groups. These include solo concertinos with piano, small woodwind ensembles, nine-part choral works, up to full orchestra and wind ensemble works. general music I began my music studies around the age of 4 when I taught myself how to read music from a big note song book. I learned note reading, rhythms, scales, and placement of the grand staff on the piano in treble and bass clefs. I have been studying music and all facets of it since then. I feel that music is vital for a child to learn, especially at a young age, though any age can benefit from the knowledge.
