Hello Everyone,

My name is Tamaara, and I believe I can help your child excel in school!

I'm currently a sophomore pre-med student at American University majoring in public health and minoring in biochemistry. Having tutored students since my early years of high school, I understand the most effective ways in breaking down "difficult material" for struggling students. My strongest subjects include general chemistry, general biology, precalculus, and calculus 1. I am also capable of tutoring middle school math (such as prealgebra), ELA, and science.

My tutoring schedule is flexible enough to accommodate sessions during the week or on the weekends, and I will not charge cancellations 5 hours in advance. Please email me for more information. I don't travel more than 5 miles away from campus, which is why I believe the $25.00 hourly fee is very reasonable.

Biology

I'm a biochemistry major in college, which requires me to know General Biology very well. I can teach middle and high school biology students. I'm very patient with students, and understand that science is a difficult subject to grasp at first, but with practice your child can achieve great grades.

Grammar

I can help students by proofreading a document or assignment at least one week in advance. For students enrolled in grammar classes, I can supplement what they learn in school to help them fully grasp the material.

Prealgebra

In middle school, I earned an A in honors algebra. I've taken AP Calculus AB in high school and Pre-Calculus/Calculus 1 in college and have gotten A's in both of those classes. For upper level classes such as calculus, you must have mastered lower level math classes such as prealgebra, etc. I have great patience with younger students and I feel confident that I can help prepare your child for exams.

Precalculus

In college I got an A in both Pre-Calculus and Calculus. Oftentimes in study groups I was able to help fellow classmates understand the material. I don't like to use confusing math tricks. The key in math is to understand why you need to do certain steps, not just memorization.

Reading

I enjoy reading on a daily basis. I'm able to fully understand passages and points of view because of my reading experience. Some students may be struggling in school simply because they lack proper reading skills. With my help, I hope to help your child succeed and grow a zeal for reading.

English

I've always been great at English. I was part of my school's newspaper and participated in many creative writing events. In high school and college, I was often chosen to be a Grant Writing or Advocacy Letter Committee Chairperson due to my writing skills and grasp of English. I can work with students from elementary school to high school.

Proofreading

I'm great at proofreading. In fact, as a college student many of my friends ask me to proofread their papers! When proofreading, I don't like to change a sentence to the extent of changing what the student is truly trying to express. I require students to submit documents or assignments they would like proofread at least one week in advance.

Elementary Math

I've always been great at math and in middle school I took high school honors classes. I was a part of my high school's Mathletes (Math Honor Society) and participated in math fairs (won silver medal) and competitions. In my freshman year of college I got A's in Pre-Calculus and Calculus 1. I've always been able to assist my younger sister with her math homework and help her understand it at a mastery level. Elementary Science

Science is one of my strongest subjects. In college, I'm majoring in Biochemistry. In middle school and high school I was active with Science Olympiads and have participated in science fairs (Honorary Recognition). I've gotten A's in my elementary, middle, high school, and college science classes and I believe I can help students understand the material much better with one-on-one attention they may not receive in school. I'm very patient with kids.

Flute

I've played the flute for ten years. In high school, I became one of the youngest section leaders for my Honors Band. I was part of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and have great performance experience. I've played solos, and scored very well (90+) on my NYSSMA All State Auditions. In my junior year of high school I was offered the opportunity to tour Europe in a high school music program. I'm able to tutor elementary and middle school students.

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
