Santa Clara, CA Elementary (K-6th) tutoring job

posted on: 10/29/13

Job description

My son is in the second grade but his school decided to teach 3rd grade reading comprehension. The problem is there is no bridge program to get him up to speed. His problem is grasping the concept of how to draw out the answers from the reading. I think he can read it fine but actually being able to extract the answers to the questions I find he is lacking a problem solving skill. He has difficulties in finding the main idea, support sentences, another name for the topic, and so on.

The best part about tutoring for me is working with students one-on-one and knowing that I played a part in their academic success. The most frustrating part of tutoring — finding new students, dealing with marketing, billing clients, etc. Wyzant solves those problems and lets me focus on what I do best — teaching!
