Staten Island Sign Language tutoring job

posted on: 3/5/13

Job description

I am interested in continuing to learn sign language. I am hard of hearing and am going to start college in the fall, but will need extra help because of my hearing loss. I wear hearing aids, but they do not help enough to understand everything that is said. One counselor suggested an interpreter since I already know some sign language, so I am trying to learn as much as i can before school starts to see if a interpreter would be beneficial. I would like you to help me expand my vocabulary and teach me the grammar of ASL. I plan on taking classes at the Sign Language Center and would like to supplement those classes with private lessons.

The best part about tutoring for me is working with students one-on-one and knowing that I played a part in their academic success. The most frustrating part of tutoring — finding new students, dealing with marketing, billing clients, etc. Wyzant solves those problems and lets me focus on what I do best — teaching!
