What are your tips for kinesthetic vs. visual vs. tactile vs. auditory learners? Do you specialize in teaching any learning style?
This is a question that is asked often of teachers, and all educators. Everyone has a learning style that is suited to them specifically, and that can sometimes make it difficult to teach others in other learning ways when you have your own special way of learning.
The best way that I have learned to meet the needs of all students involved is to first find out what their individual learning ways are and then to create a lesson that incorporates all of these styles together. By working together and trying new learning styles for all students, everyone involved will benefit. By having students use all of these areas, not just one, or not just the one that they are the best at, will help to keep them engaged in activities as well as to strengthen them in these other areas.
American history has always been one of my favorite subjects. There are just so many things to talk about it in as well as to learn about that you could never get bored. There are also so many ways to connect what you learn in history to what is going on in the world now. As they always say, you need to learn history to learn from what has happened in the past so that you will not make the same mistakes in the future.
There are so many different things about history that you can learn that there should be something that appeals to everyone in some way or another.
Some of my favorite eras to learn about about include the American Civil War, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression and World War II. I am also very interested in the times in the 60's and 70s.
I always try to find out new things about the past so that I can relate it to my future. I find history not only fun but important as well.
