March 20th, 2012 As a high school English teacher, my post-secondary and graduate school training was heavily focused on literary and linguistic studies. Until this year, I had no exposure or training in math since my freshman year of college more than eight years prior. Once I began my PhD last fall, I learned that I was required to take several advanced and multivariate statistics courses which covered subject matter that was far beyond my skill level. I began tutoring sessions with Mark M. feeling incredibly apprehensive about my potential for success in these courses; however, he demonstrated great faith in my potential and encouraged me to proceed with confidence.
