I have learned a great deal about "learning" itself. I would be a much better student if I were to go back to school now. I've learned that we all learn differently. When working with my students, I discover their learning styles so that they will know what works best when trying to learn a challenging skill or remember lengthy material. I also learned that we're all good at something and strive to help my students discover their personal strengths and abilities. Feeling good about yourself and your accomplishments plays an important role in your success in school. I love being a part of students' success and showing them how special they are even though they have a learning challenge and aren't like their peers. I heard a quote once in a conference that has stuck with me through the years: "If only the finest birds could sing, how quiet the forest would be."
