This is the first blog I have ever posted on the internet (I had a class where we had to blog about topics from the class but it was an internal blog so only the classmates were able to see it.) I guess the best way to go about it is simply introducing me to the world. I recently graduated from University of Missouri – St. Louis with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, emphasis on Technical... read more

Obviously, if you are in a classroom setting, having a cell phone ringing in the middle of a lesson distracts the train of thought for both the instructor and the student. Critics who are against confiscating cell phones, iPods, and other electronics that many elementary and secondary students carry with them to school cite examples of using technology to enhance the process; however, the lack... read more

I wrote a macro in Excel which would allow you to hand pick data from another table and manipulate the data. The way I did it was that I first used the record feature in Excel to capture the key strokes and save them as VBA script. After saving the VBA file, I could hand edit them, so that if a user needs to select 100s of values, but forget to hold down the control key, she would not need to... read more

I would be glad to help you and/or tutor you. Receiving tutoring does not mean you're stupid or dumb, because no one is. I didn't take advantage of tutoring and I struggled in my math class in my senior year covering functions and trigonometry... read more

I have been teaching and training for over 20 years and seeing a student learn is always a joy. I use many techniques to help students learn and understand the subject. One of the most effective methods is drawing on the student's own knowledge even though it may not relate to the subject. With Microsoft Excel one of the methods I use is to ask the student to picture paying the bills for his/her... read more

As a Microsoft Office trainer I frequently make the comment that: ”If I was stuck on a desert island with only one software application, it would be Excel.” Why? Even so-called “power” users of Excel are not familiar with all of its diverse capabilities. Did you know that Excel offers these features and more: Spreadsheet (duh) Database Application data integration platform... read more
