Konnichiwa! (Hello!) My name is Shige, and I am a Japanese tutor from Japan.  I was born in Nagasaki, grew up in some cities southwestern Japan, and eventually came to the United States from Kansai region in 2006. Since then, I have been teaching Japanese in Los Angeles for over nine years and have had many students with wide ranges of ages and Japanese proficiency. I can teach not only conversation but also useful phrases, reading, and writing. I can also introduce you to Japanese geography, customs and good old culture. Some of my former students have passed the JLPT tests and one even obtained a master's degree of Japanese linguistics and culture with my tutoring. I would like to help your dream comes true. My lessons are welcomed to all who want to learn Japanese eagerly. You don't have to worry if you can't speak Japanese at all. If you are interested in my lessons, please send me a message. I am so excited to have found WyzAnt and begin tutoring through the company. I love working one on one with students and helping them achieve their goals. Writing and reading are two of my biggest passions (especially reading Harry Potter- yup I'll admit it) and I love to share those interests with students.  Even though I love summer vacation as much as the next gal I miss interacting with students and being involved. I hope that tutoring will give me an opportunity to stay "plugged in" to what I love to do!

I plan to become an actuary. Actuaries explain math to CEOs in business meetings. I have tutoring experience, but I'm hoping that having official experience on my resume verified by WyzAnt will show actuaries that I have the necessary communication skills.   WyzAnt says to charge $50 per hour, but right now I'm trying to build my rating.

I have exceptional success with students transferring to MIT and Columbia! The numbers are NOT as daunting as you may think, but you must present your background in a clear and concise way with sincere interest in each college/university.   Call me today so we can discuss your interests and together we will formulate a successful strategy that will help you achieve your dreams!

When preparing your profile, be sure to include not only your qualifications and previous achievements but also provide a statement on how you will assist your students. State what you will do in your sessions? Will you teach from a book? Will you provide visual materials? Will you use a computer or certain programs?    Presenting this information in the profile allows the students to instantly have an understanding on how you will teach your lessons. This avoids the need for back and forth emails and can help you get right to work.    Just a thought.........
