Whether your learning is something new or something you need a refresher in, it can be rewarding. One of the things that makes it rewarding is because someone is taking some time to mentor you and show you how to do something that you need or want to know. For example lets talk on the subject of sewing. I have taught classes where at the beginning of the class the student wonders if they would be able to complete their project as described. They either had no prior skills in sewing or it was a while since they used a sewing machine. I take time to help them stay calm so I can teach them the information they need to complete the project. I remember the benefit of being mentored and want to be sure to pass it on from one person to the next. I can say that I am still being rewarded from the mentoring I receieved on life and in my educational training in the past and up to this present...
In today's world where everything is about our accomplishments, and time is of the essence, it really helps to get a tutor. I don't think I would be where I was today if I had not had the benefit of a tutor in some of my college subjects. A good tutor can help you to have more confidence and success as you move forward with your goals and dreams. Working with a good tutor can make a world of difference for you. Why not give it a try today?
I will customize all lessons based on skill level and needs! What would you like to make? A stuffed animal? A bridal pillow? A dress? A wedding gown? Or would you simply like to learn how to hem your clothes and sew a button? Or maybe somewhere in between? Help with a school project? The little tricks of the dressmaking trade? Let me know what you are looking for and we will make it happen!
I believe there comes a time in everyone's life that they want to share their knowledge with others. That particular time has come with me. I hope that in the future to help children in a broader sense then just on a one to one basis in whatever subject they might need help in.
All of that sounds might sound corny, but for me it is true. I am working at a job right now and I feel like I accomplish nothing there, even on my good nights. That is why I feel that teaching and tutoring would be a great career choice - and change - for me since I feel that there cannot be anymore satisfaction in the world than being able to help children get to their true potential.
With that being said, I am currently also looking at taking a paraprofessional test (hopefully in the near future) which will help me actually get in a school to be a teacher's aid. I also want to eventually gain a bachelor's in English or Liberal Arts with an English concentration.
I taught English to Spanish speaking students in Puerto Rico. It was very challenging. I sang and played games with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The students who where interested in learning did well and later on the could go to a private school where the classes were all in English, since the main language in Puerto Rico is Spanish.
For 12 years I taught family Consumer Science to 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th grade and pre-vocational students. They learned the basics in cooking, sewing, crafts, and ceramics. The students boys and girls sewed an easy piece of garment, pillow and other thing they could do.
