A"s a classroom teacher and tutor, one sad trend I notice is that students may be able to type a text message at 100 emoticons per minute but have no idea how to take notes in class during a lecture.   This trend means that many kids choose not to take notes in class, or try to write down everything down and become frustrated when the teacher moves on and they don't finish.   I do my best to teach my students how to take notes, and to understand the note taking process. It makes the information assimilate much easier, as well as makes the studying easier down the road.   So without further ado, here are my tips to note-taking in classes: Work on capturing main ideas- Look for key terms and ideas, the "big picture" as you will.
