People with low self-esteem have a tendency to compare themselves to others. They typically to place a limit on their potential by means of a self-fulfilling prophecy. This phenomenon usually occurs when the competition factor comes into play. The way to break through the cycle of comparison and a self-fulfilled prophecy of low performance is to realize that each day is a brand new day. Accomplished athletes attest that "You miss every shot you don't take." By garnering your entire focus and attention to retaining every word from both the lectures and textbooks, success has no limits or barriers. The value of the tutoring experience is when I am able to help a person with either a low or false sense of self-esteem see the reality in a new light. That is, I am able to adapt an instrumental role in acknowledging when a person is indeed doing something right- that the person deserves a pat in the back, an applause, or a word of high recognition.
The main lesson that I seek to convey is exactly how and why success is attainable to every individual, regardless of background, financial support, or disadvantaged circumstances. Regardless of how messy and regrettable one's past may have been, that as long as one has not lost sight of the eventual goal, success is imminent, and the process is ongoing. Never cease to move forward while maximizing the given opportunities and resources within reach.
I extend my hand with empathy to those looking for a way out, a new way, or simply recovering old ways.
There is no shortcut to success. If you shortcut success, success will shortcut you. "If you put forth the effort, good things will bestow upon you."
"Where there is a will, there is a way."
