My Cancellation Policy

My Cancellation Policy

I value my time spent teaching, and your time spent learning. To facilitate the scheduling of lessons, I use the following cancellation policy:

Cancellation Policy for Students:

If a student wishes to cancel the lesson, she/he must provide notice at least 8-24 hours prior to the beginning of the lesson.

If a student cancels the lesson between 8 and 4 hours in advance, a cancellation fee of up to 35% of the lesson cost may be assessed.

If a student cancels the lesson between 4 and 2 hours in advance, a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the lesson cost may be assessed.

If a student cancels less than 2 hours in advance, a cancellation fee of up to 85% of the lesson cost may be assessed.

If a student arrives to a lesson late, the lesson cost will include the time missed by the student.

If a student arrives to a lesson more than 15 minutes late, I may consider the lesson cancelled without prior notice and a fee of up to 100% of a regular lesson will be assessed.

Tutor Lesson Commitment:

I value my students time and education very highly, and as such I make every effort to adhere to scheduled lesson times:

If I am more than 10 minutes late, I will discount the lesson and charge only 50% of the scheduled lesson cost.

If I cancel a lesson with less than 12 hours notice, our next lesson will be free.

Comments

I am new and was considering a cancellation policy as well. How did you come up with the percentages? I was also thinking that it should be measurable according to mileage or time allocated to travel to the location. I mean a cancellation for a job that I would have to set out to reach an hour before should be different that one I can reach in 10 minutes. What do you think?
Thank you for sharing. I'm new as well, and would like to know how many tutors come up with percentages, rates, etc.
