Before I begin this blog, I want to explain the reason for the periodic updates to my guidelines. Although my guidelines have remained largely the same, I have adjusted them slightly during my years of tutoring to best suit the demographics in which I have worked. This blog reflects such an adjustment. Now, the blog:
Although I am not new to tutoring, a year ago, I was new to online tutoring through Wyzant. At that time, I made a set of guidelines for my students that I have since realized can be confusing. Therefore, I am making a blog that contains, in simpler formatting, the rules for tutoring with me. I will sometimes repeat information or use less-than-professional language throughout this blog in order to increase the chances of an accurate translation for students who use Google Translate to understand my blogs. Information on my philosophy and approach will be available in separate blogs, God willing.
Rules
1. We will come to lessons or provide 24 hours’ notice that we cannot come
2. We will do our best/ work hard
3. We will respect one another
Cancellation Policies (what happens if we don’t come to the lesson)
Rules

Cancellation Policies (what happens if we don’t come to the lesson)
- · 1 Day Notice: No fee
- Notice more than 3 hours before the scheduled lesson: 50% fee or $10
- Notice less than 3 hours before the lesson: 100% cancellation fee
- No notice/ No show: 100% cancellation fee + $5 charge
b. If a student gives no notice of a lesson cancellation 3 times, the student will have the option to discontinue tutoring with the tutor or accept an increase of $5 per hour in the rate of tutoring charges. Each subsequent “no-show” within one year will result in the standard “no notice/ no show” fees plus a rate increase of $5/h effective for 12 months. Likewise, if the tutor gives no notice of a lesson cancellation 3 times, the tutor will decrease the student’s rate by $5 per hour for each subsequent “no show,” down to $10/h, or the tutor will discontinue tutoring with the student.
Also, God willing, I will
- Respond to Wyzant emails within 3 days
- Post completed lessons and charges within 3 days
- Return phone calls within 24 hours
Please note: There will be one day every week when I cannot be reached. On that one day per week, I will not respond to emails, phone calls, or any other type of message.
Also, I usually check my Wyzant email 3-6 times a day, but I am not available 24-7, and I do not expect you to be, either.
