Summer days are great for sharpening skills and learning strategies to keep the learning intact. Application learning is the way to go. Build a project with your tutor and let the action begin. With my students, we select a highly interesting topic to explore. Then we work through new vocabulary and research the topic. Students lead the way by questioning and solving their own problems along the way. Using hands-on learning allows for lots of fun and concrete ways to relate to the new material. It is surprising how much project learning builds enthusiasm and energy. No more bland summer review! Keep it interesting with a project. Your student will not only retain what was learned during the school year, but add value by making connections to new knowledge.
