I have taught five years in extended high school situation overseas and at university. My class curriculum typically includes theory based upon three legs: vocabulary, practical, and critique. My objective is for any student to become conversant in the arts being able to make their own personal art as well as become more equipped to speak about and critique artwork. No longer is allowed the phrase " I like it" ... or ... "I don't like it" my students will within one semester be able to identify at least 20 major art movements between the years of 1907 and 1945 which I use specifically to build young people's vocabulary.
