Being a tutor and early career academic is not easy. My summer has been eventful even as a lack of funds has meant I couldn't go anywhere interesting. Instead I have had adventures here in Chicagoland. For one thing I served on a jury in a personal injury case. I finished my MS and I am preparing to start on the path to a PhD. Most exciting is I have had real interest from smaller universities and community colleges looking to hire part time and some times even full time faculty. For someone who is not yet a Doctor of Philosophy that is an honor.
The hard part is of course money. Summer is and always will be a lean time for people in this industry compared to the school year.
