Hello parents and students!
I am new to Wyzant, but I am very excited to work with this reputable company to serve the St. Louis community more efficiently! I will be using this first blog post to tell you a bit about myself, my credentials, and education history; however, future blog posts will deal more specifically with my tutoring progress and lessons through Wyzant while still protecting the anonymity of my students.
My educational background lies firmly in English and Literature, and I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in English Literature from California State University Sacramento. Books make me happy; writing makes me happy; helping students experience this joy as well makes me the happiest. I have experience in the teaching and tutoring worlds working with students ranging in age from Kindergarten to college age. Most recently I have been doing work for Shakespeare Festival St.. Louis as a teaching artist, educating summer campers on English Literature, British History, and Drama. In addition I worked for the past year as a guest teacher for three K-12 school districts in Sacramento, California. Before that I worked for a year as a reading and composition tutor for Sacramento City College students, and worked as a teaching intern responsible for my own group of twenty undergraduates for California State University Sacramento.
I am happy to say that I graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honors for my BA, Comprehensive Exam Honors (one of only two awarded in my graduate year) for my MA, and maintained a 4.0 GPA for the duration of my Master's degree. I am a proud member of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honors fraternity, and recently went through arts integration teacher training through COCA St. Louis working with the incredible Sean Layne from The Kennedy Center.
I'm excited to bring all of my expertise to the Wyzant community to help you or your child to succeed in their educational endeavors. I welcome the chance to get to know you better, and I also welcome any emails with questions, comments, feedback, etc. You'll hear from me again soon...take care!
