Greetings. This is my first blog post of any kind, so forgive any breach of etiquette that may be attached to such postings.
It is thrilling to start my own blog. I've never been much of a blog person (as you may have guessed after reading the first sentence), and I have never really understood the appeal of them. Blogs never come up when I Google something. They aren't on any list of credible sources for academic papers, so they have largely gone unnoticed by this teacher. However, I have now an opportunity to change all that. It's an opportunity for me to once again take a leap into the 21st century technology and embrace this new opportunity to share stories from my classroom, tutoring meetings, music sessions, and any other activities that would seem relevant to a WyzAnt blog.
I start teaching Calculus and Algebra I at West Memphis High School in August. It is a most challenging and exciting job. I am looking forward to it most anxiously. I took a year off of teaching, so I am a little rusty, but I have full confidence in my math skills, and it will be no problem for me to jump right back into instruction. The only thing that I am concerned about is my readiness to comply with the Common Core State Standards of Arkansas. I have been studying them at length this summer, but I am a little apprehensive about my ability to implement them successfully. I hope that CCSS are gone over thoroughly in staff development in August.
Well, that concludes this blog entry. I hope I didn't bore anyone. I'm sure my future posts will contain more useful information than this one.

Live long and prosper,

Joseph B.
