I begin this survey with the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations and then move onto golden age Athens. We also look at the conflict between Athens and Persia and later Sparta. Our next chapter looks at the rise of Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic civilization. We then turn to Rome beginning with the Republic, then the Empire and finally the fall. My foundation in this course is based on my classical archaeology studies at Stony Brook University, my independent studies derived from my large classical library, my travel to and documentation of ancient sites in Europe and my photographic cataloging of the ancient art collections of the world's great museums.
