In all my years as a journalist and writing teacher and tutor, I have seen students struggle on putting together a cohesive essay or article. In my blog, I will give some tips on writing a better essay.
1. Brainstorm- Before you write your essay, take out a sheet of paper and write down all the ideas about the subject of your essay. These do not have to be in complete sentences but make sure they are ideas that you understand. You will be using them later in the writing process of your paper.
2. Outline- This is what I like to call the "skeleton" of your essay. The essay should be divided into five parts. Each main topic of your essay will get its own paragraph. The three compelling details of each topic will be listed underneath each one.
3. Paper- This is the process where you put the "meat" on the "bones" of the "skeleton" outline. Following the order of the outline, you will talk about each subject you are writing about and keep it in the same order of the outline.
I hope these quick tips will help you. If you have any more questions, please visit my blog.
