I had a great math lesson with the girls last week. I had so many activities and ideas planned for the day. We first looked at the All About Me math sheet I made on the computer. Next time I will print it out, so the students can look it and use manipulatives to try and figure out the answer. Then, we played a math quiz game show. One of the questions really confused me, which is why I plan to introduce it as "That Tricky Math Question" to show the students how to answer it because it will definitely come up again on a test in school. Then, I read a math book to the students which included multiplication and division. Next time, I'm going to use a much easier book to keep them engaged in the learning and possibly add in a manipulative. I really love the one-on-one time I get with the students to understand their strengths and weaknesses. It's so important! They both did really well on their assessments. They both worked really hard and did a wonderful job! I had to keep them engaged with math a little longer though before looking at the manipulatives which I achieved by having them both complete a Mystery Math picture at their grade level to complete and color accordingly. Then, it was fun time to explore all the math manipulatives and play a quick game. I felt the lesson went really well! I believe I still have to work on my pacing and time management skills.
