Interesting twist on the savings account problem commonly found in many math texts. I read an article about local banks not pursuing customers for their savings accounts in the current economic environment. The banks get a very low return by investing the funds with the US Treasury and the banks have to pay for FDIC insurance on the funds. So, without customers needing loans from the banks, they may actually lose money on savings account deposits.
