# MCAS Questions of Day. December 22, 2011

Grade 10 Math MCAS question of day:
What is the x-intercept of the line represented by the equation 3x + 6y = 30?
A. 2
B. 6
C. 10
D. 30
C. x intercept is 10. To find the x intercept, set your y value at 0 and solve the one-step equation for x. You are left with 3x = 30. Divide each side of the equation by 3, and x = 10, so your x-intercept is 10.

Grade 8 MAth MCAS question of the day:
The equation below represents the height, in feet, of a ball T seconds after it is thrown into the air:
96T - 16T squared.
What is the height of the ball 3 seconds after it is thrown in the air?
A. 96 feet
B. 144 feet
C. 192 feet
D. 288 feet
96T - 16 T squared:
96(3) - 16(9) = 288 - 144 = 144 feet.

Grade 7 Math MCAS question of the day:
Simon's car travles about 28 miles per gallon of gas. Which of the following is closest to the number of gallons of gas Simon's car will need to travel 578 miles?
A. 10
B. 20
C. 30
D. 40
578 divided by 28 = 20.64
If you estimate, 600 divided by 30 = 20
B. 20

Grade 6 Math MCAs Question of the day:
